Meet Some of Our Scholars
Callaway
Callaway Pate, a Benjamin Banneker High School graduate, is an OSSE Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction who received the Maxima Cum Laude Award on the National Latin Exam. He has published work with Columbia University and the Society for Biodiversity Preservation. He was a member of the DCPS Chancellor’s Student Cabinet, Men of Strength DC, and More in America Community Service Group. He served as President of the Gardening Club and founder and President of the Financial Life Skills Club. Callaway attends Pennsylvania State University studying energy engineering as a Millennium Scholar. At Penn State, Callaway is an undergraduate electrochemistry research associate studying energy storage devices.
Chanel
Chanelle Edwards is an honors and IB scholar from Benjamin Banneker Academic High School. She has continued her academic endeavors as a Business Management major at Virginia State University; she is also an honors scholar, member of the Caribbean Students Association (CSA), member of the Student Title XI Association, and a student leader in the STAR program. In the future, she plans to become a Contract Specialist and Entrepreneur, in which she hopes to be an active leader in various community organizations.
Nina
Nina Durham is a current student at George Mason University studying forensic science. An alumna from Benjamin Banneker Academic High School who graduated 5th of her class. After graduation, she completed a year at Fayetteville State University but transferred for accessibility and an expansion of opportunities near home, Washington, DC. Nina is currently focusing on self-love, networking, and schoolwork.
